Olympus presents Romania its first authentic Greek yogurt brand

Greece’s leading dairy firm, Olympus is enriching its product portfolio with the newest addition of Stragghisto Greek yogurt on the local market. Reportedly, the new product launch comes in the wake of  EUR 20 million investment in a new production line at the Halchiu plant in Brasov.

Sources state that the new scrumptious yogurt is a formulation of traditional Greek yogurt recipe and will be available in three variants: 10%, 2%, and 0%.

The new product line will enhance the company’s product portfolio and offers customers an authentic product that is made according to a traditional recipe from the heart of Greece, reported Athanasios Giannousis, commercial director, Olympus Romania. He further added that the firm is pleased to penetrate the Romania market with an excellent product for consumers who appreciate quality dairy products.

Besides classical Greek yogurt, which is amongst the top consumer favorites within the category, Straghisto is also expected to match the current range of the company. The product is meant for domestic consumption, therefore, is distributed to the largest chain stores throughout the country.

For the record, Olympus was the first dairy producer to introduce Greek yogurt to the local market in 2011, and has turned into a renowned brand name among locals since then. The company’s presence in Romania dates back to 1999, and the group has established its presence across 43 counties in the world. The Halchiu plant spans across 35,000 sqm and equipped with best-in-class equipment for reception, production, and packaging of quality milk that is at par with the European standards.

Meanwhile, the Brasov factory has a total milk collection capacity of 75 tons per hour. This helps the plant produce an array of dairy products including, yogurt, cheese, UHT, fresh milk, and cream, which are distributed in hypermarkets and supermarkets in Romania. The products are available in other European countries as well, like Italy, Germany, England, Sweden, and Austria.
