Nutrition company ADM opens innovation center in Shanghai, China

Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), a leading food processing and commodities trading company has reportedly inaugurated its new regional headquarters and an advanced flavor and ingredient production, development, application and customer innovation center in Shanghai, China.

The new innovation center would feature a wide range of customer attractions including a food and flavor analytic lab, dairy and beverage application labs as well as pilot plants, a personal care lab, confectionery lab, a bakery lab, flavor creation lab, a culinary kitchen, sensory evaluation facilities, and a customer innovation center.

As per sources the company’s new site would reportedly be staffed by a team of skilled food scientists, application experts, flavorists, and regulatory personnel.

According to Donald Chen, Asia President, ADM, the masses of late, are adopting healthier eating habits and changing their food preference at an extraordinary rate. Amidst this scenario, ADM is thrilled to serve its food and beverage customers in APAC by leveraging its advanced technology, expertise and global reach.

For the record, China homes about 675 ADM employees that operate application labs set in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Beijing, a sweeteners and soluble fiber complex in Tianjin, a flavor production facility in Beijing, and animal nutrition facilities in Dalian, Nanjing, Zhangzhou, Tianjin and Xiangtan.

Reports suggest that the inauguration of Shanghai’s new innovation center would expand ADM’s presence in the APAC region, where apparently it has more than 1,000 employees and operates a wide range of processing facilities including animal feed plants, flavor and food labs in Australia, Japan, and Singapore as well as a sales office in every major market in APAC.

The President of ADM’s Nutrition business, Vince Macciocchi stated that, their company will continue to invest on a global scale in a bid to become a leading supplier of clean, delicious and sustainable ingredients. Macciocchi further added that ADM’s new facility would enhance their portfolio and capabilities that would eventually cater to customer demands for more innovative food and beverages.
