Soon burger fans in Australia and New Zealand will be able to get their hands on Five Guys’ famous cheesy burgers and milkshakes as the American burger chain is planning to open its outlets in these two nations.

Reportedly, Seagrass Boutique Hospitality Group has inked an exclusive master franchise agreement with Five Guys. Initial outlets are now being opened in Sydney, while it is not yet known where the company plans to open new outlets in New Zealand.

Five Guys has over 1500 outlets across the globe and counts the United Kingdom and Hong Kong as its major consumer market outside the US. Brisbane and Melbourne will also be among the first major cities to open Five Guys’ outlets across Australia.

Speaking on which, David Ovens who is the Franchise Representative, as well as Chief Marketing officer for Seagrass BHG, said that the decision to open new outlets brings fresh-forward focus on burgers and milkshakes over to this region of the world, and might even encourage other US burger makers to open the outlets in the future.

The company is planning to open around 20 nationwide stores in the right locations with appropriate staff, he said while adding that Australia would successfully embrace Five Guys given the top-notch quality, authenticity, and value of the brand.

For the record, Five Guys was established in 1986 in Arlington County, Virginia by the family of five people including couple Jerry and Janie Murrell and their sons Chad, Ben, and Matt.

It has long been renowned as one of the popular burger chains in the United States, and often being ranked above several brands such as Shake Shake and In-N-Out. It is also voted as the best burger chain in America in 2017.
